my story

I shoot youthful and high energy. Sometimes that's neon and joy, sometimes it's shadow and grain. Whatever the brand needs, the idea picks the camera. Analogue, digital, 3D. Concept, camera, edit, CGI. All of it, me.

EXPERIENCE

I'm Julian Kelly, a photographer, director and art director based in Melbourne. I work across analogue and digital, 35mm and 120 in stills, Super 8, 16mm and mini DV in motion. I do the whole thing for brands: concept, campaign, camera, CGI (IF REQUIRED).

CREATIVE PROCESS

I SPENT A DECADE IN THE USA, INCLUDING THREE YEARS AS GLOBAL ART DIRECTOR AT PUMA, SHOOTING AND DIRECTING CAMPAIGNS FOR PUMA AND WORKING INDEPENDENTLY WITH BRANDS INCLUDING NIKE, JORDAN, RAY-BAN AND VOGUE.

Campaign and editorial stills for fashion, fitness and lifestyle. Shot on digital, 35mm and 120, from concept and casting through to final retouch.
Directed films and campaign content. Shot on Super 8, 16mm and Mini DV. Analogue only, for motion that’s textured and stands out.
Worlds, products and type built in 3D, run through campaigns on their own or blended into the photography. Handled by me, start to finish.
